Open Question: Do most Canadians know a lot of USA Facts and Geography?
I’m gonna give Canadians an easy geography/policy multiple choice test to see if Canadians know USA stuff.
Question 1) What type of typography do you get in and around Denver, Colorado?
Choice A) Ocean view condos and exotic beaches
Choice B) Swampland with alligators and rattle snakes
Choice C) Gateway to the Rocky Mountains—Mile High!
Choice D) Desert scenery and lots of sand
Question 2) Some states in the United States do not have state income taxes for individuals earners, other states do not have sales taxes, and some states have NEITHER of these forms of taxation. The states that have NEITHER income nor sales tax include:
Choice A) Florida and Arizona
Choice B) Texas and Arkansas
Choice C) Alaska and New Hampshire
Choice D) Massachusetts and California
Question 3) Which of these US cities does NOT have an NHL ice hockey team
Choice A) Phoenix, Arizona
Choice B) Miami, Florida/South Florida
Choice C) Anchorage, Alaska
Choice D) Dallas, Texas
Question 4)-This question doesn’t count since I’m giving the answer away
Which of these US cities has NEVER in the last century, reached an actual temperature reading of 39 Celsius (known as 100 Degrees Fahrenheit)?
A) Fairbanks, Alaska
B) Grand Forks, North Dakota
C) Miami, Florida
D) Syracuse, New York
(I just can’t hold my breath on this one. The answer will shock you, but it’s Miami, Florida.) Miami, Florida gets very high humidity but ironically being influenced by the coast surrounded by water on the Southern tip of Florida’s peninsula, it NEVER gets a temperature that high, however it is CONSISTENTLY above 32 degrees 5 months out of the year with 80% humidity and the HEAT INDEX is well above 39, (the feel temperature). ALL the other cities have had heat waves that have brought their ACTUAL temperature readings over the 39 mark.
SO I’ll do another Question 4
NEW Question 4) Which of these cities in the United States right now is in the worst economic shape as far as seeking employment
A) Orlando, Florida
B) San Francisco, California
C) Detroit, Michigan
D) Seattle, Washington
Question 5) Which of these USA cities is known for the meeting of 3 Rivers!
A) New York City, New York
B) Atlanta, Georgia
C) Salt Lake City, Utah
D) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Lets see how many Canadians can get a perfect 5
you don’t know the answer to Question 1? or Question 3?
or Question 4?
There’s only 2 hard ones.
Sebastian got it right!
I know the capital of Nunavut was Iqaluit and no I didn’t just look it up. I know First Airlines flies to Iqaluit as the main hub, I know Iqaluit has its own CBC radio, I know it is Inuit who live there.
And I kept asking many times why there is no paved from from Goose Bay to Iqaluit. SO I KNOW!
I’m gonna answer other people’s questions.
Most hated Prime Minister -trick question – “I’ll go with Brian Mulroney”
City in each province, I swear on my life I’m not looking at a map. I’ll use capital cities
British Columbia – Victoria (Pacific Time (-08 GMT))
Alberta – Edmonton (Mountain time (-07 GMT))
Saskatchewan – Regina (Mountain time (-07 GMT))
Manitoba – Winnipeg (Central time (-06 GMT))
Ontario – Toronto (Eastern Time (-05 GMT))
Quebec – Quebec City (Eastern time (-05 GMT))
Prince Edward Island – Charlottetown (Atlantic time (-04 GMT))
Nova Scotia – Halifax (Atlantic time (-04 GMT))
New Brunswick – Fredericton (Atlantic time (-04 GMT?))
Newfoundland and Labrador – St. Johns
Territories: (Newfoundland time (-03″30 GMT-one half hour ahead of Nova Scotia
Northwest Territories – Yellowknife (I think it’s Mountain time like Alberta)
Yukon Territory – Whitehorse (Pacific Time)
Nunavut – Iqaluit (Eastern Time?)
When I listen to CBC they always end these commercials with “1pm in Halifax we will air ___ 1:30 in Newfoundland!
Now WITHOUT looking I’m gonna name all the Canadian cities with CBC radtio stations
1) Inuvik, NWT
2) Whitehorse, YT
3) Yellowknife, NWT
4) Kelowna, BC
5) Vancouver, BC
6) Prince George, BC
7) Victoria, BC
Edmonton, AB
9) Calgary, AB
10) Regina, SK (Saskatoon doesn’t have one)
11) Winnipeg
12) Thunder Bay
13) Sudbury
14) Toronto
15) Montreal
16) Quebec City
17) Fredericton, NB
18) Saint John, NB
19) Iqaluit, NU
20) St Johns, NL
21) Halifax, NS
22) Labrador City??? -MAY have one, not sure
23) Windsor, ON
24) London, ON
25) Ottawa, ON
I know for a fact that at least part of Saskatchewan is not in Central Time. Saskatoon is on Mountain time.
I know this for a fact because I drove from Winnipeg to Saskatoon and the only way I was able to make it ontime to “Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan” last year in Saskatoon, was gaining that extra hour from the timezone change. I will never forget that.

Resolved Question: What is the best set of irons up for sale today?
Before we start. I’ve got no problem controlling the ball, I just can’t work it. In other words, I’ve got no problems hitting the ball straight, I just can’t do stuff like fading, drawing, or putting backspin on it on purpose (besides wedges, which I can spin back).
Anyway. What do you guys think is the best set of irons right now? I can play blades, but obviously without being able to work the ball I don’t know if there’s any advantage to it.
Btw, I have a question about lengths. Would having too light of a flex on an iron make you lose distance? My current irons are light flex graphite Big Bertha ’02s (my parents got them for me when I was eight, which was right after I had just gotten out of a cast for a broken wrist, and they didn’t want me to hurt myself). During a HS practice, the group in front of us was messing around on the green so one of my team mates let me hit a range ball into a lake with his nine iron. He’s got stiff graphite Big Bertha ’98s. I didn’t have a ball to hit out afterwords with my nine and I don’t know exactly how far his went, but it looked to me like it went a lot further than mine does. So I was just wondering what the deal is with that so I can figure out if it actually did go further or if it’s just me not being able to optically gauge distances correctly.

Voting Question: I’m thinking of renting a house – how do I negotiate the price?
Okay so there is this house that my husband and I would like to rent but the current price is too much for us (1,200/month) and we need to talk the owner down about twenty five percent (to about 900/month). I know it seems like a lot to hack off of the price but it seems like there is a lot of room for negotiation (check list below for examples). The problem is even though I feel like I have an articulate, confident, and proficient negotiator within me – I don’t really know what I’m doing. I need some pointers on how to be most effective.
- The previous tenant (who is a friend and now moving) talked him down (she didn’t say how much but mentioned in passing that he may accept 9 – 950) when she lost her job
There are a lot of defects to the home that hinder it’s value but are tolerable.
-old appliances
-high water table (mushy grass half the year – it’s on a lake)
-there is a broken hot tub in one of the rooms
-there is very little insulation in the addition which is open to the rest of the home, apparently the heating bill is outrageous in the winter
-there is no central air
The home is also for sale (which we may consider eventually but that’s another story all together) and the asking price is way high – especially because there are nicer houses on the same street for less.
Thanks for you input!
